At North Wales First Aid, we are occasionally asked if we can deliver first aid training in Welsh. Read on to find out more.

Being based in North Wales where the Welsh language thrives we do sometimes get asked if we’re able to provide first aid training in the Welsh language. This is indeed something we’re keen to offer but unfortunately it’s not as simple as we’d hoped.

We believe strongly in only offering regulated first aid training. That means our courses are written and approved by an Awarding Organisation and regulated by the UK’s Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual). This ensures that the first aid courses we deliver are of the highest quality and up-to-date with the latest changes.

Late in 2025 we started investigating which Awarding Organisations were able to offer Welsh language first aid training and it was a disappointing result. Only one AO in the whole country has a Welsh language first aid course and that only included tutor notes and assessment papers (presentation materials including first aid manuals would still only be available in English). This course was also quite dated and no changes had been made to it in some years.

We don’t believe any first aid provider in Wales is currently able to offer Welsh language regulated first aid training.

So sadly, as much as we’d love to, we’re only able to deliver first aid training in English at present. Meanwhile we’ll continue our efforts to work with the Welsh Government and Qualification Wales to see if we can change this.
