Our Forestry First Aid (+F) course provides essential skills and knowledge to those working in the forestry and agricultural sectors, particularly for those involved in ‘core operations’.
‘Core operations’ can include activities such as harvesting, civil engineering, mechanised ground preparation, planting, fencing, pesticide application, forest nursery activities, lone workers and site supervisors. The course has been designed to supplement our one day Emergency First Aid at Work or three-day First Aid at Work qualifications and covers additional topics as recommended by the Forestry Commission.
It is recommended that anyone working in forestry or agricultural operations should undertake additional first aid training delivered with a forestry context. This is due to the nature of the work and the increased risk of injury or illness in remote environments.
By completing our Forestry First Aid (+F) course, you will gain the knowledge and skills required to deal with a range of topics which extend beyond that of a standard workplace first aid course.
During the course, you’ll receive additional training in the crush injuries, hypothermia/exposure, Lyme Disease and catastrophic bleeding using tourniquets, Haemostats and compression bandages (to deal with chain saw injuries and gun shot wounds) and casualty evacuation planning.
